Around 180 press manufacturing staff, who are members of the AEEU arm of the union, will strike tomorrow (9 January) and plan similar action for three more consecutive Fridays.
Over 170 clerical, technical and managerial staff, attached to the unions MSF section, plan to strike next Wednesday (14 January) and again two weeks later.
Goss Graphic Systems had offered workers a 2% pay increase backdated to 1 October last year, followed by a 1% increase this year, but staff rejected the deal (PrintWeek, 18 December).
Amicus regional officer with responsibility for Goss Graphic Systems, Ron Ralph, said that the Goss offer had been rejected out of hand.
We are willing to meet to sort things out, but they should not underestimate the resolve of the workforce, said Ralph.
