Goss secures damages in TKS trial

A US court has upheld a 20m ($35m) judgement against a Japanese printing press manufacturer, whose actions damaged Goss Internationals business.

The US Appellate Court for the Eighth Circuit upheld the decision against TKS, and affirmed the award of damages to Goss International.

TKS were accused of flooding the US with unfairly priced press kit in an attempt to harm US industry.

"This is a positive decision for the overall concept of free trade and fair, rules-based competition," said Goss chief executive Bob Brown (pictured).

"Its illegal actions represent an unacceptable approach to competition," he said.

The court cited trial evidence of TKS dumping over 71m of printing press additions into the US market in the 1990s.

- The US Department of Commerce is also reviewing TKS's conduct during an earlier investigation.

The firm is accused of providing false information to the government about its sales to a newspaper in the US.
