Goss International will replace Leeds Webs existing overshot inking system with its Digital Inking System across 62 printing couples, including a refurbished Goss HT70 four-high tower, which is currently being installed.
Johnston Printing managing director David Crow said that the upgrade would enable Leeds Web to provide more consistent print quality and reduce wastage.
The key commercial benefit for us is the increased advertising revenues we can expect to receive due to the improved colour quality, said Crow.
Leeds Web produces the Yorkshire Post as well as the northern editions of the Financial Times.
Earlier this year Goss Internationals Digital Inking System was awarded a 2003 GATF InterTech Technology Award from the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation in the US.
