Giml unveils accurate inks

Giml has launched a new ink set for Epson Stylus Pro ink-jet printers, which it claims that along with its AbsoluteProof software can produce simulations of over 90% of the Pantone library.

The Extrachrome inks expand the colour gamut that can be produced on an Epson printer by adding special orange and green inks to the conventional Epson CMYK set to achieve more accurate simulations than current ink and RIP combinations.

The company said that field tests had proved accurate simulations of over 93% of the Pantone library of 1,114 colours were possible with a Delta E of less than three.

"There are so many packaging guys pulling their hair out looking for a solution like this," said Niall Coady, managing director of UK distributor Targetcolour.

Targetcolour plans to demonstrate Extrachrome and the Absolute-Proof RIP running on Mac OS X at Apple's UK headquarters.
