Buxton Press, Polestar Group, Southernprint, Stones the Printers, Wyndeham Grange and Wyndeham Heron have made the shortlist.
The PPA's magazine repro company of the year will be between Colour Systems, F1 Colour, Keene Repro and Zebra.
Finishing companies shortlisted in the finishing, packaging and mailing house category include BTB Mailflight, Comag Forward, The Finishing Company and Priority Newstrade & Mailing.
The winners will be announced by comedian Lee Hurst at the Millennium Mayfair hotel in London on 16 November.
PrintWeek publisher Haymarket is up for several awards, including magazine production team of the year. Gemma Bruce, production controller for PrintWeek sister title Packaging News, is also up for magazine production newcomer.
