First Impression ceases trading

South London printer First Impression has closed its doors leaving serious debts to suppliers.

Suppliers report that the Camberwell-based offset printer, registered with Companies House as Howden Litho, shut up shop last Tuesday. A creditors' meeting will be held on 31 August.

Tony Halker, managing director of supplier Openshaw, said that his company was owed a "manageable sum" by the defunct printer.

An industry source said that among other suppliers, paper merchants had been "taken for serious amounts of money".

Phones have not been answered at the First Impression plant for several days.

The creditors' meeting will be held at 10am on 31 August at Valentine & Co, 4 Dancastle Court, 14 Arcadia Avenue, London N3.

No further details were available from Valentine.

"We've been asked to hold a creditors' meeting and that's all we can say," the company said.
