Backed by the European Commission, the initiative will offer the "Wood and Paper Opportunities for Generations" seal. This will be awarded to youth-related projects, carried out at a national or European level, that promote learning about forest-based industries. These include, forestry, pulp, paper, converting, packaging and printing.
These employ some 4m people across Europe with a combined annual output of 277bn (E400bn). The new label will be viewed on projects across Europe, at events aimed at young people or educational bodies. All projects must be non-commercial, youth-related, and geared towards highlighting the industry as an attractive career prospect.
