EFI updates Fiery for new DocuColor

EFI has launched a new version of the Fiery for the Xerox DocuColor 8000 unveiled last week (PrintWeek, 16 September), which introduces some new tools to the Fiery range.

New features introduced in the EXP8000 include production automation, a new version of the Graphics Arts package Premium Edition for colour profiling and new variable data printing tools.

The Fiery for the iGen3 is now shipping in Europe, with three sites already installed. European managing director Paul Cripps is preparing to roll out version two of its ProductionFlow pre-press workflow.

As part of plans to show how the firm's suite of products can be integrated he is opening a demonstration centre in Amsterdam.

The firm is increasing its work with partners to push its graphic arts products. This part of the firm, which includes workflow and proofing as well as the MIS products, is currently its strongest growing sector with year-on-year growth of 30% compared to the 10-15% anticipated, according to chief executive Guy Gecht. This business now makes up 20% of sales, which is helping to balance its figures.

Gecht shed more light on the firm's recent profits warning (PrintWeek, 9 September). The problem, which it attributed to its controller business, was in embedded controllers that drive office printers rather than the Fiery servers.
