Edale has appointed a new UK sales manager to support its domestic growth.

Luke Harris joined the British manufacturer of printing and converting equipment for the packaging industry in March.

Having previously spent over three years at Fujifilm, as business development executive at its Graphic Communications division, for Edale Harris will visit UK customers and joins office-based business development manager Louise Bailey to support the company’s growing presence in the UK market.

Edale said Harris’ appointment aligns with the company’s commitment to have greater reach and more engagement with its customers to provide machines that use technologies that provide more sustainable print options.

Harris said: “After operating in the commercial market for the best part of three and a half years at Fujifilm, the challenge of moving into the labels and packaging industry really excited me.

“When the opportunity to work for Edale presented itself, it was an opportunity I couldn't refuse; who wouldn’t want to work for a British manufacturer that prides itself on the high quality of its presses, has a great reputation and operates globally in the growth market of the printing industry.

“I look forward to meeting customers in person, as well as virtually and at our UK headquarters over the coming months. I’m keen to learn more about their business and to discuss Edale’s technology and range of presses.”

Edale sales director Darren Pickford added: “I am delighted to welcome Luke to the team. Whilst we already have a strong presence in the UK market, our strategy is to continually strive to improve and expand our reach.

“With Luke onboard, we can engage with more customers in the UK and better serve the future of our customers in the flexible packaging industry.

“The market is not without its challenges, including supply chain issues, rising costs, and new legislation around plastic tax. Nevertheless, Luke and the sales team are eager to provide support and printing solutions to help our customers through these challenges.

“Our doors are always open to visitors both in person or virtually, and we are proud of our technology, the customisation and quality engineering we offer. We build presses to last a lifetime of use. I am confident that Luke will be a fantastic ambassador for Edale.”

Based in Hampshire, Edale engineers and manufactures digital and hybrid presses, carton and label production lines, flatbed die-cutters, and finishing and converting kit. Acquired last year by Canon, the business was the subject of a Printweek Best of British feature in 2019.
