DM forum puts stress on print service variety

Printers need to show that they are capable of providing a range of services in the direct mail sector, according to one speaker at a one-day conference last week.

The Vision for the Future event was held at the Hilton Hotel in Dartford and organised by the Howard Hunt Group. Speakers included Watson Phillips Norman founder John Watson, Howard Hunt sales director Luke Pigott and marketing consultant Graham Hardy.

We are no longer printers there to take the spec, proof the artwork and print, said Pigott. We are now expected to input on design and format, expected to innovate and have the ability to advise on data.

According to Howard Hunt, spend on direct mail has grown 10% year on year for the past four years.
