She has also recruited Sandra Marshall, who was RES marketing manager for HP products, as marketing director.
The new firm, Shear Initiative, will offer a one-stop shop for buyers of digital equipment, said Sheard. She will focus on strategic marketing, financing and customer education. The firm will also do training days and marketing events.
During her time with RES, which went into administrative receivership in April, Sheard specialised in bespoke finance packages for HP DesignJet users prior to similar services for larger digital presses like the Xerox DocuColor 2000 range.
Marshall helped Sheard to set up RES Rental Solutions, particularly in database management and marketing.
Sheard said Shear Initiative was "tackling the confusion in the digital print market" with "easy to understand personalised dealer rental agreements".
