Dalim Software director of marketing Gee Ranasinha put forward the motion that this House believes that modern printing systems do not require skilled personnel, which was seconded by FE Burman managing director Michael Burman.
Speaking in opposition were London College of Printing dean John Stephens and Cambridge University Press craft training and development co-ordinator John Boyle.
The motion was defeated by 49 votes to 14.
