CV Labels buys second Nilpeter press to meet increased demand

Scottish label manufacturer CV Labels has invested in a second Nilpeter FB-2500 UV-flexo press to keep up with increased demand for pressure-sensitive labels.

The Ayrshire-based firm bought its first Nilpeter press 18 months ago and has since seen its work levels rise.

The new machine, which was installed on 20 May, has replaced an old Comco Cadet press. It has a top speed of 228m/min and includes six UV–flexo units, hot air dryers, a die-cutting module, a laminating unit and a turn-bar for reverse-side cutting.

“They are exceptional machines that have improved our efficiency and productivity hugely,” said production manager Ricky Weatherston.

“Our old machines ran at a maximum speed of 60 or 70m/min but thanks to the drying system on these machines we’ve been able to more than double our production speed.”

CV Labels serves customers in the pharmaceutical, medical and electronics industries and has also seen increasing demand from other sectors, including the food and drink industry.

The company makes products including encoded labels for blood transfusion bags, sterilisation labels with colour changing inks, syringe labels and cryogenic products for liquid nitrogen freezing.

It is the only Scottish label manufacturer to attain the PS 9000:2011 pharmaceutical quality certified supplier status.

The firm, which has 18 staff, recently refurbished and extended its factory when it took on the unit next to its existing premises.

The doubled floor space meant that it could accommodate the second Nilpeter press and it hopes to invest in a third in the future.
