Cradley Group is conducting a group-wide cost review that is likely to lead to redundancies.
The 28m group, which employs 500, has issued a HR1 notification and the GPMU is braced for about 50 jobs to go.
Consultations are underway and Cradley declined to comment on specific details until this process had been completed.
Better news for the West Midlands-based company has come in the shape of a number of new contracts, including Pulse, a 40,000-run weekly tabloid, and fresh monthly motorcycle magazine Two Wheels Only, which has a run of 150,000.
Both are produced using PDF workflows and computer-to-plate.
Outside of the publications sector, Cradley has also secured a 150,000-run bi-monthly contract for a London council newsletter.
