Thomson Directories has installed 38 new Heidelberg Linoscan 1450 desktop scanners and around 40 new Macintoshes.
The scanners, supplied by Creative Publishing Solutions (CPS), replaced ageing Umax scanners. Thomsons advertising production department in Farnborough houses 28 of the units, with the rest installed across its regional offices.
"It was an unusual quantity of scanners to order, but directories have an awful lot of scanning to do," said CPS managing director Bill Johnstone. "The equipment fitted the bill Thomson liked the software and the control the machines offered."
Thomson publishing director Steve Arnold declined to reveal the cost of the investment, but said that everything was working well.
