Equipment includes a KBA Rapida 74 five-colour press, an Ecotech Series laminating machine and an Agfa Xcalibur 45 XXT platesetter. The firm's KBA printing presses in Glasgow will also be upgraded.
Mike Dando, director and general manager of the CPI Bath Press said a new temperature-controlled 45mx16m press hall would be built within the existing building, which will house all of the company's sheetfed presses including the new KBA Rapida.
"There has been a need for investment, and the object of the exercise is to keep some of the book jacket printing work for Antony Rowe in-house."
Dando said that more money would be available depending how well the business performed once the new equipment was in place.
