Communisis delivered an upbeat trading statement at its annual general meeting last Friday (4 May).
The group said that the business was on track in the January to April period, and cited notable successes in direct marketing and e-comms, including work for Providian Bank, Weightwatchers and Asda.
Its a very interesting mix, some direct marketing, some statementing and some e-comms. The significant thing is that we are winning this business in the areas we are, said chief executive David Jones.
Communisis continues to invest in its highly-profitable e-comms division, which includes Communisisone and Communisiscrm in Leeds. It is investing 5m at the operations in Leeds and at the new Brussels site of Commuisistwo, which is set to go live in August. This includes IBM hardware and software as part of Communisis alliance with IBM for customer relationship management.
We are effectively replicating Communisisone in Brussels, and well put a sheetfed digital press in there, explained Jones. In Leeds we are doing some very good, intelligent, variable data printing using digital.
