Cavalier Reproductions has traded in its Agfa Chromapress 32i digital press for a web-fed MAN Roland DICOpress 500 following its move to new premises in Leicester. The Agfa had been in use since 1997 and the planned upgrade was brought forward to coincide with the move to avoid moving the Chromapress.
We looked at some sheetfed alternatives, but they didnt compare to the web-fed DICOpress units and they shut the door on too many jobs, said Cavalier managing director and founder Roy Jackson.
Cavalier Reproductions was founded in 1978 and bought by Artisan Press in November 2000. It currently has 25 staff.
The DICOpress 500 was bought from MAN Rolands UK agent, PPS, and cost around 250,000.It can print up to 3,900 A4 pages an hour and handle substrates weighing from 80-250gsm.
