PrintWeek was contacted by a source last week who said that all staff at CPC, which is registered at 7 Llantrisant Business Park, Llantrisant, Pontyclun, Mid Glamorgan, CF72 8LF, had been sent home. 

A second source said they understood that staff had not been paid for July and that "there has been no written confirmation to date to its staff of them actually being made redundant from Cardiff Printing Company". 

The source added that they understood that CPC had been placed in administration in the first week of August due to “excessive falling sales in July”. However, Companies House still lists the company as 'active' and no announcements have been in the London Gazette regarding the appointment of an insolvency practitioner.

According to the source, CPC had one official customer, Caerphilly-based Uprise Print. 

When contacted by PrintWeek, a spokesperson for Uprise Print denied any link between Uprise and CPC, but declined to comment further. 

Uprise Print, which is based at Trecennyd Business Park, Caerphilly, lists Jonathan Stephens as director on Companies House. Stephens was also a former director of CPC.

Uprise also has a digital division, Uprise Digital, which was called Pink Panther Digital until 2014.

Uprise provides a number of print services, including brochures, leaflets, flyers, large-format, branding and marketing services. Acording to its website, clients include Tesco, L'Oréal and Cardiff University. 

CPC was incorporated in 2008 and lists Andrew Allen as director, the man who was convicted in 2014 of VAT fraud relating to non-existent sales between his former company, South Wales Media, which was placed into liquidation in April 2010, and CPC.
