Calls for green grades grow

Recycled content paper demand will increase over the next year as more firms and government departments switch to recycled grades, said the Recycled Paper Advocacy team at the Waste Resources Action Programme (WRAP).

WRAP paper product manager David Adams said recycled paper was becoming more of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) issue.

"Organisations with a high interest in CSR see the purchase of recycled paper as a positive environmental response," said Adams.
This was in response to increasing public concerns over the environment.

The National Recycled Paper Advocacy team is funded until March 2007.

Its focus will be to explain why the purchase of recycled paper is important, outline the benefits, and dispel some of the concerns over pricing and quality.

Adams said that over the next few months, the team would be meeting with a large number of groups looking to switch to recycled papers.
