The six-stage kit collates and inserts multiple products in a heat-sealed wrap, and prints addresses with a high-speed ink-jet in one pass.

Domino Bitjet print heads pushed the cost to nearly 350,000 and provided inline personalisation of mailing carriers, or polythene, to roll out addresses, logos, bar codes and slogans.

"The Bitjet allows sequential printing so you can change your data for every page or mailing," said operations manager Emma Copsey.

Buxton Press uses the kit for magazines and it is the second Sitma mailing line to go into the Derbyshire plant.
