Brunswick Press has taken on a Duplo DBM-350 twin tower booklet system to support its growth coming out of the pandemic.

The company, which recently relocated from Barnet to Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, around four miles away, took delivery of the machine earlier this month. CJB, one of Duplo’s UK dealers, supported the company through the buying process, installation, and training.

Brunswick Press owner Mark Wootten said: “Our plan is to grow our business further by being able to bring more work in-house, speed up throughput and improve quality, and we couldn’t do that with our smaller Watkiss bookletmaker, so we made the choice to opt for the Duplo booklet system.

“The DBM-350 is faster to set up, easier to run and enables larger pagination booklets so we just had to go for it. Every step of the way the team at CJB were thorough and helpful.

“As we already have Duplo equipment [including DC-446 multi-finishers] the interface was very familiar, so it was very easy to pick up – it’s an extremely easy machine to set up and use and we’re seeing improvements in our production times already. Carl at CJB is easy to deal with, very professional and knows our requirements very well.”

Brunswick Press also runs a four-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster 52, a Ricoh Pro C7100 digital printer, Epson eco-solvent wide-format equipment, and a variety of finishing kit.

“Since 1974 we’ve collected quite the range of equipment which means we can fully cater to our customer needs without the need for much outsourcing,” said Wootten.

“The Duplo bookletmaker allows us to keep much more of our booklet production work in-house.”

He added: “During the pandemic, like everybody else, the work dried up overnight, but we were very lucky. We had created an online portal for much of our products which meant that we had revenue from online customers, which actually saw an increase in business.

“We also made use of the furlough scheme but thankfully we are now back to pre-pandemic staff levels and work has been increasing month-on-month. With restrictions being lifted all over the country we’re hoping that the next few months will see even more increases with incoming orders, and our online shop has never been busier.”

Brunswick Press serves a variety of commercial B2B customers ranging from startups to large corporations. It offers products including business cards, letterheads, folders, booklets, signage, banners, posters, and promotional items.
