"VAT ratings for print are notoriously complex and it can be hard working out if a product is standard or zero rated," said the BPIF.
The federation's VAT service was created with the assistance of accountancy firm Horwarth Clark Whitehill and includes a links to the Inland Revenue and Customs notices.
Advice touches on export VAT, when a document can be classed a leaflet, and whether a package of printed products is zero rated.

"We would rather use the website so we can update our advice easily so all members can use it, not just the ones with the 'red book'."
