Peter Smith, deputy managing director of the Shaftesbury-based printer, said: Were bucking the trend at the moment, which is pretty grim out there. But we have grown a lot over the last five years and things are going very well.
Smith said the new colour coldset capacity would position the 85-staff educational and commercial printer to take advantage of niche titles with run lengths as low as 6,000, which would not be profitable for heatset web groups.
Blackmore, which has a turnover of around 7m, has built a 600m2 extension to accommodate the press alongside its existing Solna Distributor D25-D three-and two-unit presses.
