Beamish will take up his new role as chief executive of AssetSkills, a Sector Skills Council (SSC) for the property and facilities management sector, at the end of next month.
His replacement at the PEF should be announced in the next two weeks.
Im 53 and this opportunity has come along its a bigger job. I like the idea of a new challenge, said Beamish.
He added that that PEF, formerly the PGC NTO, had achieved a lot with limited resources thanks to much goodwill from the industry.
The PEF will meet this Friday (20 February) to develop its strategy for possible SSC partners as well as its relationship with training and recruitment group Proskills.
Proskills has had a few problems and as a result we didnt know whether our relationship would continue. But they have taken on some changes and have held negotiations with the Skills Sector Development Agency, said Beamish.
