Asylum seekers at Turnpike Press

Turnpike Press got more than it bargained for when it ordered four tonnes of a special mill making of Chromomatt board from Arjo Wiggins in France for a job for English Heritage.

When the lorry pulled up outside the Enfield printer the driver heard noises from inside the container and immediately called the police. Twenty minutes later 30 officers from Edmonton police station turned up to detain a number of Kurdish asylum seekers.

Turnpike managing director Tony Jackson said: They had somehow got inside the sealed truck at the customs point at Calais.
