A new reel-up has been fitted on the plants paper machine, which will improve efficiencies at the Scottish mill. A spokesman for the company said the reel-up would help optimise its CF production and widen the possibilities on its woodfree products.
The reel-up would help reduce changeover times between products, enabling the paper machine to run more productively.
Capacity will remain unaffected at the plant, which produces some 75,000 tonnes per annum of woodfree and speciality papers.
The project had initially been earmarked for last year, but was delayed after job cuts were made in a bid to reduce costs.
The proposed construction of a new biomass Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant remains on schedule, with details set to be finalised by the end of May this year (PrintWeek, 28 February 2003).
By this time, the Scottish Executive will have revealed the amount of the grant it will award the manufacturer for the 23m project.
