Agfa has launched Digital QuickStrip, a plug-in for Apogee, for working with pages rather than complete flats. The 6,000 plug-in allows for post-RIP assembly of flats from individual elements.
"It combines the flexibility of a page-based workflow with the productivity of a flat-based one," said Agfa product line manager Donna Blomquist.
Pages are ripped and trapped individually allowing work to start on a section before the final page arrives, last-minute changes and easier inclusion of copydot files.
Applications include magazine printing and packaging. It has been tested at magazine printer Stephens & George.
The ability to work with pre-ripped elements is also suitable for step and repeat work, cutting down the ripping time needed to produce a complete sheet.
