Transport Management Solutions (TMS2), which specialises in transport and fleet logistics services, has provided the Vehicle Management System (VMS).
VMS was installed to see if there were more efficient ways of making deliveries.
"It provides our company with a snail trail, to see what we can do to improve vehicle efficiency for deliveries," said Antalis logistics director Alan Walters.
The system is currently being trialled on 50 of the company's fleet of 240 vehicles. The rest will be integrated by the end of July. "VMS can produce reports and provide historic delivery times, and allows us to track a vehicle's movement at any time," said Walters.
TMS2 commercial director Vipul Palan said the customised VMS system for Antalis incorporated i-Track, providing access via a GPS link to real-time vehicle information, and i-View, which measures actual performance against planned performance.
Overnight Antalis automatically sends TMS2 its delivery plan for the following day. This information enables the system to monitor the actual arrival time of a vehicle at each drop-point and captures the status of that delivery.
TMS2 has also provided an i-Track and i-View module for gm2 Logistics, part of the James McNaughton Group.
Antalis will also take the data from VMA for use by its sales team which will implement it within its customer relationship management (CRM) system.
