The Swedish operation, based in Stockholm, will initially focus on the print, digital print and office markets.
"We already have operations in Northern Europe, so this was a natural extension," said communications manager Bndicte Erulin.
Both operations will stock a range of Antalis and mill brand products, which the company may expand depending on demand.
Logistics will be provided by a central warehouse in Malmo, southern Sweden, which also serves the Danish market, and a warehouse in Stockholm.
Managing director Anders Jolstedt will head the Swedish management team.
In Turkey, Antalis has entered into a co-operation with fellow European merchant Simge. The agreement will provide Antalis with the opportunity to buy all of Simges shares.
Simge has annual sales of 30,000 tonnes and distributes a wide range of products including coated woodfree, uncoated and carbonless grades.
The company employs 80 staff across four sales offices, three in Istanbul and one in eastern Anatolia. It serves 1,500 customers.
It is headed by chairman Ibrahim Sisman and managing director Haluk Olcer.
