Xitron, which was bought by Agfa in September 2001 as part of its Autologic acquisition, will function as a wholly owned, independently operated subsidiary of VGI.
Xitron is a developer and integrator of RIPs and software for the graphic arts sector. In addition, it recently launched a digital press for short-run, on-demand commercial printing and proofing.
VGI, whose other subsidiaries are Cheltenham-based HighWater Designs and US-based Printware, is a privately held holding company, that specialises in acquiring and managing graphic arts firms.
Agfa Graphics is a subsidiary of the Agfa-Gevaert Group, which announced its intention to demerge its three divisions, Agfa Graphics, Agfa Healthcare and Agfa Materials, by the end of 2007.
