The UK's first Adast DI press is being offered for sale secondhand through online site business-auctions.com.
The Dominant 755 DI digital press was installed at Goodfellow & Egan's Peterborough plant in the summer of 1999. It was taken out in May of this year after a fall-out between Adast and G&E's new owner Thomas Potts.
The press has 1m impressions on the clock, and the initial bidding price has been set at 350,000. A new Dominant DI would cost over 600,000.
Business-auctions is selling the Adast on behalf of the leasing company which originally financed it. The site handles the sale of surplus plant in a variety of industries, including textiles, vehicles and heavy industry such as power stations. "We think print is a good vertical market for us, and intend to use our connections and weight in finance and banking to put equipment out to a much wider audience," said senior account development manager Chris Stevens.
Stevens added that Business-auctions would oversee the sale and installation of the machine, and that "full viewings" of the press in operation can be arranged for serious purchasing prospects.
