The PlateScope can read chemistry-free and processless plates using a patent pending video targeting system. It has a measurement range of between 2% to 98% and supports the measurement of screen technologies AM, FM and hybrid. X-Rite said it has already had 74 orders for the PlateScope at Ipex.
"We have had a lot of interest in this product," said X-Rite director for graphic arts Tim Cassell. "From what our customers have been telling us, there is a need for this kind of product in the market, particularly as press runs are becoming shorter."
Chris LaFontaine, X-Rite worldwide product manager for graphic arts, added: "When you consider the time and expense of press operations, reliable accuracy is crucial to reducing waste and avoiding expensive problems."
