Over 30 magazine publishers have committed to the PPAs new magazine benchmarking project.
PPA management accountant Ville Karhusaari said the survey would cover all aspects of magazine production and sales, including printing costs, distribution costs and revenue streams.
Emap, Readers Digest and The Big Issue are among those to commit to the project so far and Karhusaari expected several more to sign up.
Data collection forms will be sent out in the next few weeks and the report will be finalised in February.
The survey is based on a pilot project involving eight publishers, including BBC and Reed, which the PPA carried out in April.
All information is confidential. Each publisher will receive an individual report and the PPA will publish the industry average.
