100 year old KBA still going strong at the Bolshoi

A KBA press has notched up 100 years in production, and is still in use at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow to produce posters.

Originally ordered by a printer in Madrid in 1903 the B1 sheetfed letterpress machine was installed two years later in 1905.

Since its discovery in a Moscow street in 1958 by Bolshoi printer Ivanovich Tushilkin the machine has been put to use churning out more than 10m posters. Among them a poster celebrating ballerina Galina Ulanova's stage jubilee that was printed onto pink silk.
