RS Bookbinders was founded by Roy Shaddock in 1983, utilising his knowledge and experience gained in the bookbinding industry since the age of 14.

The company started life in a small workshop in the East End of London with just two members of staff. Current managing director Graham Shaddock joined his father in 1986 at the tender age of 21.

Where are you based?

A new 560m2 unit in Rochford, Essex

How many staff do you have? 

We have just taken on two new apprentices, and now employ 13 members of staff

What does your firm do? 

All forms of bookbinding and box-making, specialising in high-end presentation solutions

What’s your typical customer? 

We work with design agencies, printers and architects and have an on-line shop at that sells bespoke presentation products 

Which geographic areas do you serve, local, national international? 

Worldwide

What’s your USP? 

We have the resources to see any job through from start to finish. This means that we can both prioritise our own workload and, crucially, that we have total control over the quality of the finished article

What’s your company’s motto?

‘If it was my money being spent, would I be happy with the product’

What equipment do you run? 

We have a Kisun layflat machine, two Impress foiling machines, two guillotines. A brand new Smyth F55-L section sewer and a brand new 130w laser cutter, as well as gluing, case making and binding machines
