Oasisprint has been developed by Barcelona-based James Welsh and Shadi Manna who met while they were both working at Vistaprint.
The duo has invested a "six-figure sum" in the Oasisprint platform, and has teamed up with an unnamed UK printing company as manufacturing partner.
"We are starting with a tight product line and intend to add to that. Our offering is about high quality in terms of paper stocks, print quality and customer service," stated Welsh. "We are trying to get repeat business and we are making it very easy for people who need reprints."
The website had its ‘soft’ launch at the end of January, and the current Oasisprint offering includes staple items of business stationery along with leaflets, posters, postcards and greetings cards. It aims to establish a quality niche through, for example, the use of 400gsm FSC-approved stock as the standard grade for business cards.
The company’s print partner has both litho and digital printing facilities, allowing jobs to be diverted to the most appropriate production method.
Oasisprint is using Google as its main online advertising channel. Welsh declined to give specific details about the turnover expectations for the business, although the company is already envisaging rolling out the service in other territories. "We have nailed down this brand in several different countries," he said.
