Roland DG launches debut hybrid wide-format printer

Roland DG has launched its first wide-format hybrid printer, the VersaUV LEJ-640, which can print on to both flexible and rigid substrates.

The manufacturer is pitching the new machine as a "low investment, cost-effective" addition to its portfolio offering both roll-fed and flatbed production.

Its new printer incorporates both white ink and clear varnish in addition to a CMYK colour set and features a print width of 1.625m, printing onto coated and uncoated substrates up to 13mm thick.

According to the company, the incorporation of white ink and clear varnish make the printer ideal for the production of short-run packaging and prototypes.

The VersaUV LEJ-640 offers a maximum resolution of 1400 x 1400 dpi - quality Roland DG claims to rival screen printing output.

Rob Goleniowski, business manager for sign and graphics at Roland DG UK, said: "We have incorporated into the new VersaUV LEJ-640 the successful and innovative attributes that have proved to be extremely popular in the LEC-330 and LEC-540 models.

"The result is a low investment, cost-effective and versatile solution which is certain to appeal to sign-makers, commercial printers and display producers who want to add innovative results to their applications."

The VersaUV LEJ-640 is available with CMYK plus white and clear varnish, CMYK plus two channels of white, or CMYK plus two channels of clear. The printer is available with a list price of £45,999.
