Printer Ralph Wrightson closes but assets and business sold to new company

General commercial printer Ralph Wrightson has closed its doors, making all of its staff redundant.

However, the Northampton company's business and assets have been sold to a new company, Pentagon Design & Print.

Anthony Sargeant, of Centrum Recovery, was appointed as administrator for the £1.3m-turnover company on 20 January.

According to a spokeswoman for Centrum, all of the company's 12 staff were made redundant on "around 1 December 2009".

She added: "The business and assets were sold but staff were not re-employed as the purchaser deployed its own staff."

Reasons given for the company's fall into administration were a reduced order-book, cashflow problems and the business's bank not supporting a voluntary arrangement.

According to Ralph Wrightson's website, the printer handled a range of work, from B2 posters to business cards and books, as well as offering finishing.

New owner Pentagon Print & Design was formed on 23 October last year, with Carol Lamb as the sole director. Lamb is also a director at Gloucester-based printer Haden Moore.

Lamb could not be reached for comment.
