Heidelberg to hold Digital Performance open house

Heidelberg will provide the first UK demonstration of its new Versafire EP and EV digital presses at an open house in September.

The Digital Performance open house will take place from 10am to 4.30pm on Wednesday 12 September at the firm's national showroom in Brentford.

Both the EP (Performance) and EV (Value) printers will be shown working in tandem with the Prinect Digital Front End at the event and Heidelberg will also demonstrate the Speedmaster CX 75 B2 litho press.

The company said this will enable visitors to see how Heidelberg can control colour across both technologies and also how litho and digital can be used in tandem.

“This will be the first time for the wider Heidelberg customer audience to come in and look at what the Versafire range has become and what Heidelberg can now do in terms of colour management with our Prinect Front End,” said Heidelberg UK digital equipment business manager Chris Matthews.

“We’ll be running work uncoated on one of our offset presses and then we’ll be emulating that output, using our Prinect colour management tools, through the Versafires.”

Presentations will be given by Matthews and Heidelberg UK demonstrator Cliff Coghlan while Ricoh UK’s Andy Campbell will also deliver a presentation on the potential commercial opportunities using the fifth colour on the Versafire EV.

A raft of partner suppliers will also participate in the event including Morgana, Vivid Laminating Technologies and TheMagicTouch.

“We will also have Color-Logic there, who will be demonstrating and showing a plug-in for the Adobe CS suite that allows you to create some very clever metallic effects using digital print in combination with the white toners that we have in our EV range of products,” said Matthews.

“It will be a good, informative day which I think will demonstrate why customers should consider buying digital from Heidelberg.”
