EFI opens Connect with new software strategy

EFI kicked off its biggest-ever Connect user conference with news of a fresh 'best of suite' approach to its software offerings.

Gaby Matsliach, general manager and senior vice president of EFI Productivity Software, said the firm had leveraged its investment in its large portfolio of print and packaging software to create EFI Productivity Suite.

"Many printers have best-of-breed software but the end-to-end flow is not there," he said. "It's time for a best-of-suite approach. This is certified end-to-end workflow out-of-the-box."

He added: "We are not expecting customers to forklift upgrade or rip and replace - we are expecting customers to gradually evolve."

Productivity Suite will be released this quarter.

This is EFI's largest Connect to date, and the four-day conference and exhibition, held at The Wynn in Las Vegas, has sold out. It is more than 20% bigger this year, with 1,500-plus attendees expected to attend the event, including customers coming from 25 countries.

Today (21 January) EFI chief executive Guy Gecht will have a 'fireside chat' with RR Donnelley chief executive Thomas Quinlan.
