Domino signs first deal at Ipex for label press

Domino (S5-F391) has made its first Ipex sale in the form of an N610i digital label press sold to Turkish printer Ipek Dijital.

The sale constitutes the first sale of this press, launched at LabelExpo in September 2013, into Turkey, with Domino “well over half way to hitting” its target of 25 sales of its N series by the end of its financial year in October as a result.

The press will replace an existing wide-format machine at Ipek and will enable the company to offer a higher quality of labels to its existing consumer goods manufacturing customers.

Ipek is also looking to invest in both new laser and new die-cutting equipment, and has so far looked at AB Graphics, Cartes and GM kit.

“The attraction of the N610i is the quality and speed of the machine and the fact that Domino offers very good installation and service support in Turkey,” said Cengiz Ergudengil, general manager of Ipek Dijital.

“In Turkey there’s a lot of competition between label printers so it’s important that this printer’s quality is comparable with traditional flexo label printing processes.”

“The first year we will use this just for existing customers, but then we’re hoping to attract new customers with the high quality. We aim to double our turnover,” he added.

The list price of the N610i is €700,000 (£580,000) and it is available with up to six colours, plus white.

Domino uses Kyocera heads in the press, which was also given new unwind and rewind units and a fresh look when its N600 predecessor was updated last September. It boasts a speed of up to 75m/min and prints at 600dpi.
