Autobond to showcase Mini 76 TPM at Total Print! Expo

Laminating equipment manufacturer Autobond has announced it will unveil its latest products at this year's Total Print! Expo (TPE) event in October.

The Heanor, Derbyshire-based company will be demonstrating its new Mini 76 TPM – Thermal, Perfector, Magnet.

The model is capable of laminating one or both sides of a sheet in one pass, or laminating one side and applying a magnetic film to the other, which the company claims is a world first.

Autobond said it expects a significant growth in the market for this type of work, which enables the creation of items such as fridge magnets and magnetic business cards in one pass.

Autobond managing director John Gilmore (pictured) said the Mini 76 is just the start of a potential line of machines that could feature in all shapes and sizes.

He said: "The flexibility we have within our production facilities here in Heanor means we can easily build models to suit customers' specifications and the new magnet version could be supplied as a Mini 36 or Mini 52 for the smaller offset or digital market."

Gilmore added that the makeready on the Mini 76 TPM could be carried out using only two or three sheets, keeping wastage low.

The machine can hold a 500kg reel of magnetic material, equivalent to around 750m (approximately 1,680 SRA3 sheets). The magnetic material can be separated using the laminator's standard 'bump' separator, which Gilmore said had helped to keep the selling price low – Autobond's Mini series starts at £33,000.

Sheet sizes ranging from A4 to 76x102 cm and stock weights from 90gsm-650gsm can be laminated at up to 45m per minute.

A bottom separation, continuous suction Heidelberg Stahl drum feeder is fitted to the machine.

Total Print! Expo is being held at Earls Court 2, London, from 14-16 October. To find out more, and to register for the free advice seminars being held during the show, visit the TPE forum on printweek.com.
