1ClickPrint expands after canvas printing boom

A wide-format digital printer has doubled the size of its premises after an explosion in interest in printing on canvas.

1ClickPrint prints posters, canvas prints and banners as well as business cards, brochures and flyers.

According to sales manager Ian Fenton, turnover at the 13-employee company has grown tenfold since it launched as an online broker for flyers and business cards in 2004 to achieving a turnover of £1.8m a year.

The Sheffield-based company took control of the new 10,000sqm factory, conveniently located "just over the road" from its old one, on Friday and spent the weekend moving in before taking to social media to announce it was back up and running on Monday.

Fenton said: "We’re been printing lots of canvas and we were running out of room. We’re doing 500 a day now, whereas it was 100 not so long ago."

The company started printing on canvas six years ago and this now represents 60% of its business. Fenton puts the success of the line down to improvements in technology and an emphasis on pushing volume work rather than unit profit through attractive offers and discounts.

He added: "People can send big files over broadband where they couldn’t before and the traditional printer wants people to bring files in. We make things easier for customers."

1ClickPrint prints on canvases ranging from 8x12ins to 36x50ins on three Cannon iPF 8100 and two Canon iPF 9100 wide-format digital printers through a fully-automated system. It also prints t-shirts in-house on a DTG M2 and is developing printing photos in clear acrylic blocks.

The company, which started with three people, still contracts out business card and flyer work to the same printer.
