Severn has won a competitive tender to produce all of the journals for publisher, events and association management specialist Bioscientifica.

The two-year contract will begin in March 2020. Bioscientifica collaborates with biomedical societies to publish and develop journals that “have high impact, a wide reach and a healthy financial return”. Its portfolio includes subscription titles, open access journals and online resources.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been selected to produce this very prestigious print tender for Bioscientifica,’’ said Severn managing director Ian Smith.

“We are thrilled to be adding this contract win to our growing number of relationships with publishers who are looking for a competitive, high-quality and reliable short-run print services partner.’’

Severn now works with more than 70 publishing clients as part of its fast-growing book and journal offering.

The Gloucester-based firm recently printed Greta and the Giants, a children’s book based on Swedish teenage environmental activist Greta Thunberg, and in June it took on a Canon Océ Colorstream 3900 high-speed inkjet press with a Hunkeler book line as part of a £2m investment to fuel growth.

“The Bioscientifica team look forward to entrusting Severn with our upcoming journal print requirements,’’ said Bioscientifica operations manager Simon Laurenson.

“We have already been impressed by the quality of their ultra-high-definition inkjet printing as well as their commitment to the environment, which closely fits with our own company ethos.”
