Sappi Raw: "a paper like none other"
Sappi Raw: "a paper like none other"

Sappi has launched a new coated paper that feels like an uncoated grade, described as combining two “until-now impossibly simultaneous sensory experiences in one”.

Sappi said that Raw was a super-bright graphic paper provided users with the reliable print performance typical of coated papers, but with the touch, feel and high whiteness/high bulk appearance of an uncoated paper.

It believes it is the only paper on the market to combine these features.

Sappi Europe head of marketing operations Conor Evers said the new Raw paper was “the latest example of Sappi’s continuing commitment to market-shaping investment in print and the future of the print industry”.

“We know that exciting the sense of touch as well as vision helps create deeper connections for consumers – a paper like this opens new doors and creates new possibilities for end users and our print partners alike,” he said.

Raw is available for litho printing in sheets from 115-300gsm and is also suitable for dry toner printing. Sappi said it would run on HP Indigo digital presses without primer.

It is made using ECF pulp and is FSC and PEFC certified.

“This is a paper like none other – a paper that can talk to a reader’s fingers of natural texture even as it speaks to the reader’s eyes of gorgeous layers and depths,” Sappi stated.

The Raw range is available directly from Sappi UK.
