While we have succeeded in establishing an efficient and economical service to customers, we had to make a realistic financial decision, said non-executive chairman Stephen Hargrave.

He said that, as with several other online operations, uptake on sales had been considerably slower than expected, and was increasing too slowly to support the company in the long term.

We have about 70% left of the 3m we raised at the start-up, and we had to decide whether to spend on advertising or look at other options, said Hargrave.

He said the firm would look at two options: taking a trade partner or licensing the software for customer personalisation.

Managing director Peter Henry and technical director Charles Bradshaw-Smith will both leave by mutual agreement, but Bradshaw-Smith will continue to provide technical advice.

Hargraves brother Paul, the firms development director, and finance director Jerry Reidy will both take a reduction in salary, believed to be around a third of their total.
