McGowans’ Landa S10 press has arrived at the firm’s Dublin production facility.

The business, which also has an operation in Northern Ireland, revealed it had ordered the press earlier this year.

It will be the first Landa press on the island of Ireland.

The firm’s B1 format Landa S10 is a straight printing model configured with seven colours and inline coating for spot or flood varnishes. It prints at 6,500sph and can handle substrates up to 800 microns.

The creative print specialist has a long track record in installing ‘firsts’ of new technology, and expects the press to transform its ‘small-format’ digital offering.

Founder and chief executive Mal McGowan said the investment was around €4m (£3.5m) when the order was announced.

He said installation was set to take four weeks and he expected the S10 to be in production in mid-September.

The Landa will be used for direct mail work, commercial printing, point-of-sale, and “also into the expanding packaging market”.

McGowans also runs a wide range of large-format digital printing kit including an EFI Nozomi.

The S10 left Landa’s factory in Israel at the end of last month.

The first, and so far only, Landa press in the UK was installed at Bluetree Group in Yorkshire two years ago.
