The high-speed inkjet printing setup went live nearly six-and-a-half year ago. 

The Saint Saviour site runs two Kodak Prosper 6000P presses, which print at up to 300m/min and use Kodak’s Stream continuous inkjet tech, along with Hunkeler finishing kit. 

The company successfully secured contracts to print national newspapers alongside local title the Jersey Evening Post, meaning the daily papers no longer had to be flown in to the island, which often resulted in distribution delays because of poor weather conditions such as fog. 

KP Services is a joint venture between Kodak and Guiton Group. 

It has now secured fresh contracts to print newspapers for Times and Sun owner News UK, The Daily Mail Group, and Mirror, Express and Star owner Reach. 

The new deals involve more than 20 individual titles, and will run until 2024.

KP Services managing director Bill Paterson said the presses had proved reliable in serving the needs of the Channel Island.

“Day after day, our operation is proving that Kodak's high-speed continuous inkjet technology is a perfect solution for flexible, short-run printing of newspapers and other publishing products,” he said.

“At the same time, it shows that Kodak Prosper presses are robust workhorses that meet the requirements of high-quality newspaper printing with frequent job changes and enable profitable production.”

Over the summer Kodak launched the 410m/min Prosper 7000 Turbo inkjet, billed as the fastest on the market.
