Colombier has enhanced its European operation with a strategic investment in state-of-the-art sheet cutting technology, to expand the forest industry trading group's converting capabilities.

The investment is part of Colombier's ongoing efforts to strengthen its market position, drive competitive advantage and broaden the options open to its customers. The company added that by embracing the latest technology, it can deliver superior products and services to its customers.

The investment centres on the installation of a Barry-Wehmiller (BW) Papersystems P 22-02 Cut-Size Sheeter at its strategically located facility in Zeebrugge seaport in Belgium, which serves mainland Europe and the UK.

The new precision 550m/min cutting line can handle reels up to 960mm-wide and 1,400mm in diameter. It can produce sheets from A5 to A3+ and handle weights from 40-160gsm.

Colombier CEO Juha-Markus Viitala said: “Colombier has always been dedicated to providing exceptional value to our customers.

“We’re excited to leverage the advanced capabilities of this machine to drive efficiency and customer satisfaction.”

Forestry product pioneer Colombier supplies a wide range of products and services, from barrier coating products for food packaging offering a sustainable alternative to plastic options, to a full service converting and trading company service.

The group provides services to a global customer base from its processing operations in Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
